In 2010, when former Miami Heat player Alonzo Mourning reached out to his good friends Tom and Linda Rizk, asking them to meet him in August at Trump National Golf Course in Westchester, NY, it wasn’t to play a round of golf. Rather, Alonzo Mourning, “Zo”, to his family, friends and thousands he’s helped through his foundation, Alonzo Mourning Charities, would be hosting the 7st annual Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout, and was asking for their support. The Rizk’s not only provided their individual support of the event, but provided sponsorships on behalf of their company, TractManager, Inc.

This year, as preparations for the 7th Annual Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout, were underway, Tom and Linda Rizk, along with their company, TractManager, Inc., reevaluated their participation in this event, and thought about what they could do to support not only Alonzo Mourning Charities, but also include another cause that is near to their hearts: The Wounded Warrior Project. The Wounded Warrior Project is a charity founded in 2003 to honor and provide physical and psychological assistance to warriors and their families who incur service-connected wounds on or after September 11, 2001. And so, with the continued support of TractManager, help from their friends at Classroom 24-7 and the support of Alonzo Mourning, Linda Rizk reached out to The Wounded Warrior Project, and invited several retired military personnel and contractors to play golf in the 7th Annual Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout. By doing so, the sponsorship of one charity was turned into an opportunity to show support and thanks to individuals who were severely wounded while serving our country, by sponsoring their participation in the golf tournament.

As the event got underway, on August 16th, 2010, around 20 Wounded Warrior Project alumni, representing the Army, Marines, Air Force and Navy, prepared to tee off and enjoy a relaxing day playing golf in hopes of winning one million dollars, while supporting a great foundation. “The opportunity to spend the day with these warriors, who show courage and resolve in the face of real adversity, is an inspiration to us all,” Linda Rizk said of inviting warriors on behalf of TractManager, Inc. to participate in the event. “I was humbled and honored to be in the presence of these men and women of our Armed Forces. These individuals are truly the best of the best. How fortunate we were to play with them today,” said Tom Rizk, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TractManager.

Sponsorship of Wounded Warriors, and incorporating this project into Zo’s Annual Million Dollar Shootout golf tournament, is something TractManager and Tom and Linda Rizk plan on continuing. “It’s a way of saying ‘thank you’ to those in the Armed Forces who have dedicated themselves to providing us with the freedom we fail to recognize comes at such a great cost”.
